Frequently Asked Questions
Material and Selection
Q: What’s the difference between solid and engineered?
A: Solid wood is made from a single piece of wood, while engineered wood is constructed from multiple layers of wood glued together. Engineered is a good option for below grade or on a concrete slab.
Q: Can I see samples of your Hardwood Flooring?
A: Yes! We have a new showroom located in Middlefield, Ohio.
Q: How soon can I get my flooring?
A: Delivery and installation timelines vary depending on the type of flooring and availability. In-stock flooring can often be delivered within 3–5 business days.
Custom or special-order products may take 2–4 weeks. Our team will provide an accurate timeline during your consultation.
Q: How long does the installation typically take?
A: The timeline really depends on the size of your space, the type of flooring you choose, and any prep work that needs to be done. Some projects can be completed in just a few days, while others may take a week or more. During your estimate, we’ll give you a clear idea of what to expect for your specific project.
Q: What’s the estimated cost for installation, including materials and labor?
A: It really depends on the type of wood you choose, the size of your space, and the details of the project. Every home is different, so we provide custom estimates to give you the most accurate pricing for your specific needs.
Q: Do you offer dustless refinishing?
A: Yes, we use equipment that’s designed to capture most of the dust during the sanding process, making refinishing cleaner and less disruptive. While no process is 100% dust-free, our system greatly reduces the mess compared to traditional sanding. Dust can be expected to be extremely minimal with our machines, processes, and craftsmanship.
Q: Is it possible to install/refinish the flooring myself, or should a professional be hired?
A: While it’s possible to attempt it yourself, hardwood installation and refinishing are precise jobs that require specialized tools, expertise, and techniques. Even small errors—like uneven sanding or improper installation—can be expensive to fix and shorten the life of your floors. Hiring a professional ensures the job is done right the first time, saving time, stress, and costly mistakes.
Q: How do I keep my hardwood flooring looking new?
A: Regular care makes all the difference. Sweep or vacuum often to remove dirt and grit, use a damp (not wet) mop with a hardwood-safe cleaner, and protect high-traffic areas with rugs or mats. Over time, a professional cleaning or refinishing can refresh the surface and bring back its original shine. We will go over maintenance for your new floor and give you guidance on how to protect your investment.
